AVK Holding Southern Africa, was established in Pretoria, in 1991.
In September 2016, AVK officially launched a R200-million valve manufacturing facility at Alrode in Gauteng, South Africa. The opening of the plant is in line with the AVK strategy to grow business in South Africa and the southern African region. AVK Valves Southern Africa emerged from Premier Valves Group in 2014, when AVK acquired a majority stake in Premier Valves.
The Premier range of products will continue to be marketed by Premier Valves under its own brand and AVK branded products by AVK Valves Southern Africa. The two companies work closely together to expand and strengthen the overall position of AVK in the Southern African market.
In December 2016, AVK Holding Southern Africa acquired 100% interest in Gunric Valves, including all brand assets and intellectual property (IP). Gunric Valves have always specialised in manufacturing and exporting large diameter and made-to-order Butterfly Valves and tilting disc check valves. Gunric will continue to operate at the existing facility in Robertville, Florida, Johannesburg.
